A few years ago, my sister-in-law was going to have her first baby, my first nephew.  I wanted to mark this momentous family occasion with a proper baby shower.  But with her and I living in different states, and with all of our family and friends scattered even further away, we could not find a way to get together for a traditional shower. I was determined to give her one, so I came up with the idea of a long distance baby shower.  I didn’t like any of the “virtual” or video shower ideas out there, and I didn’t just want to ask people to send her a gift. I wanted to put on a full interactive event that gave people the sense of participating in a real shower.  I included games and activities and shower favors, all done through the mail, and the response was overwhelming.  Everyone had so much fun with it and truly felt like they got to “shower” the mom-to-be even without seeing her in person. And my sister and brother-in-law were completely surprised and thrilled.   It worked perfectly, and along with my baby nephew, a new business idea was born!
